Artist Bio:
Wendy Palermo is a Canadian artist who has lived, worked, and played in Niagara Region for over 40 years. She is a self-taught artist who worked as a memorial designer at a family-owned monument business where she created many artistic customized monuments for dignitaries and local families. She is particularly proud of the Monument Builders of North America Award she received early in her career. Later in life, Wendy went back to school to become a Recreation Therapist and later a field placement coordinator at the local college, where she continuously utilizes her creative talents while supporting students.
She delights in the summer months when she can escape to the outdoors to paint "plein air" with friends to capture the beauty of Niagara Region. In many of her paintings, she explores new techniques and pushes herself to paint scenes that build her artistic skills. Her artworks try to capture the simple things in life that many of us just pass by, like a wildflower field, or an old rusty shack that is silhouetted in evening warm sun.
In addition to teaching fun and engaging art classes, paint and pour nights, Wendy also participates regularly in art festivals in Niagara Region including Pelham Art Festival, Art at the Pumphouse, South Niagara Studio tours. She has also showcased her art works at galleries in Niagara, Toronto and British Columbia.
