Whimsical Pencil Doodles and Beyond with Robert Brion......Members Only Morning Workshop

Whimsical Pencil Doodles and Beyond with Robert Brion......Members Only Morning Workshop

Join us as Bob shares examples of his journey from rough and random designs to a more disciplined product. He will explain how he lets the hand determine the direction and form without erasing. This means he has to be both creative and flexible, never setting out to create a particular form such as a bird, fish, caricature of a person but rather turning his appealing designs into paintings based on his doodles.

Street Scene in Watercolour with James Pay......Members Only Full Day Workshop

Join James as he conducts a full day workshop on how to approach a “street scene” in his signature loose but controlled style. This watercolour workshop will be broken into 25 minute segments of demonstration with full explanation, followed by time for participants to apply their learning to their own paintings between segments. Special attention will be paid to depth perception, perspective and recessive and progressive colours.
Working with a limited palette of 8 colours, he will talk about colour mixing and the importance of understanding each colour and how it mixes with other colours.

The workshop continues until 4:00 p.m. so bring your lunch. Coffee will be available through the day.

Pre-registration and payment of $25 is required a month before the workshop.  Alternately, registration can be completed by contacting Lorraine Kelly, Programme Chair by email. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

Pouring in Watercolours with Cathy Peters......Members Only Morning Demo

Pouring in Watercolours with Cathy Peters......Members Only Morning Demo

In this demonstration, Cathy will demonstrate how to bring a feeling of fresh, free and serendipitous creative spirit using the watercolour medium. Working with non-traditional applications (pouring, dabbing, using eye-droppers) and very little brushwork, Cathy will create a watercolour painting in a loose and free flowing method. The demonstration will include a number of different steps and stages in the development of the painting as well as and information provided about the preparation of the materials, types of paper, resist/ masking materials, and watercolour paints. There is not enough time for individual artists to work along, due to the preparation and mixing of paint with various mediums. This is a very time consuming process but an excellent introduction to this technique in watercolour.
