Events - Fundamentals of Painting Still Life by Artist Linda Hankin......Full Day Workshop for Members Only

Linda Hankin was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts where she lived with her parents until her father`s death. She then moved to her mother`s home town of Montreal, Quebec. Even though she was painting and drawing since childhood, she began the studies that would lead to a B.A. in Visual Art from Brock University at the age of thirty three. After her graduation, her energy and enthusiasm helped foster a quickly developing career. Large paintings became the norm and her work was shown at American and Canadian galleries both solo and group. She has accepted several teaching contracts in the Niagara region including Rodman Hall in St. Catharines, The Pumphouse in Niagara-on-the-Lake, School Boards throughout the Niagara Peninsula, and Brock University. In 1999 she founded the “School of Ideas”, a fine art school and contemporary art gallery. It’s mandate is to show work in the area of environmental philosophy, science, the universe, spirituality and mystical associations with the natural world. Linda has conducted workshops in Spain, Newfoundland, Wales and the UK to only name a few. Her work can be found in Spain, Italy, Newfoundland, Ontario, Germany and Holland.

About the Workshop

Do you think your "still life paintings" have become boring and uninteresting? Maybe you just need to loosen up before you start to paint. If the answer is yes, then this workshop with Linda Hankin is for you.

The workshop will start with an exercise, introduced in Betty Edwards book, entitled "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain". This exercise will be helpful in discovering ideas that have been hidden in our unconscious right brain. Linda will demonstrate a warm up exercise for all guild members and talk about how to use these results in our own work. It will be the springboard to developing a still life painting and bring in another element of surprise.

All members are welcome to the first part of the workshop, which will start directly after our announcements. After a short coffee break, only those members who registered and paid for the workshop will set up their supplies in preparation for their own painting as Linda circulates and provides guidance.
