Events - "Rooted in the Garden" juried competition of original art featuring Niagara Parks -- Free Admission

"Rooted in the Garden" Juried Art Exhibition and Sale:

The overall theme for the art is "Begin Here", representing Niagara Parks' 132 year history within Canada. Niagara Parks is uniquely important as a natural, cultural and heritage gateway for all.

The art submitted in the open competition highlighted at least one aspect of Niagara Parks. This included such themes as Nature and Horticulture, History, Heritage and Buildings, and Tourism. The art must be original, including fine art, fine photographs and portable sculptures. Art may be abstract or traditional.

Deborah Whitehouse, retired Assistant General Manager of Niagara Parks was the sole Juror. She has selected 42 Niagara artists to represent this show.

The many artistic expressions are amazing. Niagara artists are superbly talented, taking on the challenge of the competition with enthusiasm.

Signature Floral Art Display:

Rebecca Montemurro, with large canvases in acrylic and Karen Logan with botanical illustrations display their expertise in floral art on the platform of the same Lecture Hall.

Both artists will be giving a free demonstration and/or workshop on Sept 9 at the Butterfly Atrium. See the Events listing dated Sept 9. Do not miss it.
